Title: Profiling a discipline: a co-word analysis of information science
Authors: Park, Thomas H.

Issue Date: 8-Apr-2011
Series/Report no.: IST Research Day 2011 posters
Abstract: Given the dynamic, specialized, and transdisciplinary nature of science, representing a scientific discipline poses a challenge, particularly when conveying the discipline's identity to funding agencies, prospective students, and other outsiders. To address this challenge, we present a visualization approach based on a co-word analysis of keywords generated from the work of highly-cited researchers. We illustrate our method by visualizing and interpreting the intellectual space of information science.
