| Abstract: | A light rail line running east/west through Philadelphia currently terminates in the North Broad section of the city at Broad and Noble Streets. Out team designed a station facility at this east terminus location. Our design includes the following features: free interchange between the light rail line and the Broad Street Line for commuter convenience, retail and office space to attract business, and a capability to be expanded upward for future growth. The physical connection between the existing and new lines will be accomplished via an underground concourse. In addition to utility, the design incorporates architectural stylings reminiscent of the golden era of rail transportation, while recognizing todayâs need for security considerations. It is our aspiration that this station will promote new ridership and increase commerce in the area. |
