Department of
Medicine Grand Rounds
Microsoft recently released a new
client operating system called Vista. During the next
several months, CoM-IT will be testing all current applications. Several mission
critical applications have already been identified as incompatible. We will not
release Vista to the DUCOM community
until all testing is complete.
DUCOM and Drexel University will remain
on the Windows XP Professional operating system and Office 2003 for the
foreseeable future. We expect to be in a position to support vista in fall of
2007. This allows us time for extensive testing of the critical DUCOM
administrative, academic and clinical systems.
We have notified our
vendors and University Procurement of our position. We urge you to take extra
caution when purchasing a new PC or laptop as it should be equipped with Windows
XP.
NOTE: DUCOM-IT will
NOT support Vista until all testing is
complete. We will continue to test Vista and will keep you
informed of new developments. Please call the CoM-IT Help Desk for further
information at 215-762-1999. Thank you.
Dr.
Puglia is the former Director
of the Program for Integrated learning and the former Associate Dean for Medical
